BARCLAYS BANK NATIONAL SCRABBLE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP

BANKABLE WORDS ANYONE?
This weekend Kenya's to word smiths converge at Barclays Bank Sports Club in Ruaraka Nairobi the national championship. The event is part of a series of qualifiers to select team Kenya to African Scrabble Championship to be held in Livingstone Zambia in November. Current national Champion Gitonga Nderitu of Muranga will face strong challenge from Allan Oyende of Visa club Nairobi and his world championship team mate Litunya of Machakos. 
All eyes will be on Home boy favourite Isaiah Maloba as he pits his wits against the best in East Africa. The event is sponsored by Barclays Bank. Scrabble kenya will use the event to prepare players intending to contest for slots in team kenya to World youth Scrabble championship in UK. This will see Riabai and Nkoroi high school fielding teams. Competing for top honors in two divisions will be teams from VISA club, Mt. Kenya region, Nakuru, Migori, Homabay, Machakos, Busia, Kisumu. Universities[UoN, KU, Moi, JKUAT, Strathmore and Egerton] will also field teams.
When the last tile has been played and the tile bag lies collapsed in a wrinkled heap on the table after game 18 on sunday, the top 3 players in both divisions will get trophies and cash prizes as division 1 players battle for 10 slots slots in team Kenya.
Scrabble Kenya would like to invite all Scrabble Players of different age groups and mastery to a national event on the weekend of 4th to 5th August, 2012 in Nairobi. The venue will be BARCLAYS SPORTS CLUB RUARAKA: next to KCA University. The field will be split into two divisions [division 1 players rated >1400, all new players and players rated <1400 span="span"> 18 games will be played. The event is a qualifier to ASC later in the year. Please contact the people below to register for the tournament.

Registration Div. A KES 1,000 Div. B KES.500 students KES 250 & High school students KES 100 can be done via MPESA to Muema Muumbi on 0725 791 021 by 3rd August,, 2012 to enable ample time for coordination and avoid late registration penalties after 8.30 am on 4th. Players to carry boards and writing material
